José Manuel Durão Barroso – He was named President of the party in 1999 and re-elected three times. During the same period, he served as Vice President of the European People’s Party. Daniel Gros – Director of the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) since 2000, Vice-President of Eurizon Capital Asset Management since 2005, and member of the Supervisory Board of the Central Bank of Iceland since October 2009. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago and is the author of several books and numerous contributions to scientific journals and newspapers.
