Guy Verhofstadt is the transnational lead candidate of the Alliance of Liberals and Democratrs for Europe (ALDE) for the European Parliament Election 2019. He leads the ALDE Group in the European Parliament and is a former Prime Minister of Belgium, a position he held for 10 years. He was also Deputy Prime Minister of Belgium from 1985 to 1992 and Minister of Budget from 1985 to 1992. The ALDE leader and Member of the European Parliament he is Brexit coordinator and member of both the Conference of President and Committee on Consitutional Affairs. He holds a degree in law from the University of Ghent.
