Ayşe Cihan Sultanoğlu is United Nations Representative to the Geneva International Discussions. Since 2012, she has been Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Assistant Administrator and Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (RBEC) of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). She has served in the UN for over 35 years in leadership positions including Director of Human Resources in UNDP’s Bureau of Management and UN Commissioner-General to EXPO 2017 in Astana, Kazakhstan. She was previously UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Belarus (2004-2007), in Lithuania (2000-2005) and UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Morocco (1995-2000). In 2005 she was awarded with the “Order of the Commander of the Cross” by the President of Lithuania. Sultanoğlu holds a Masters of International Affairs degree from Columbia University.
