Assistant Secretary-General, United Nations
Ayşe Cihan Sultanoğlu is an Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations. She was appointed as the United Nations Representative to the Geneva International Discussions by the Secretary-General of the United Nations in 2018. She was previously Assistant Administrator and Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States of the United Nations Development Programme. Sultanoğlu brings over 39 years of distinguished service in the UN in leadership positions, including as Director of Human Resources in UNDP’s Bureau of Management, and as UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Belarus and in Lithuania respectively. She was appointed as the UN Commissioner-General to EXPO 2017 on Future Energy in Astana, Kazakhstan. In 2005, she was awarded with the “Order of the Commander of the Cross” by the President of Lithuania.
