Frans Timmermans

Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal, European Commission

Frans Timmermans is Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal of the European Commission. Prior to this, he was First Vice-President of the European Commission and the European Commissioner for the portfolio of Better Regulation, Inter-Institutional Relations, Rule of Law and Charter of Fundamental Rights in the Juncker Commission (2014-2019). Previously, Timmermans served in the Dutch Civil Service as a member of the House of Representatives for the Labour Party, as Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs charged with European Affairs (2007-2010) and as Minister of Foreign Affairs (2012-2014). He has also held positions as Senior Adviser and Private Secretary to the High Commissioner on National Minorities of the Organisation for security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).
