Director-General for External Policies of the Union, European Parliament
Pietro Ducci is Director-General of the European Parliament’s Directorate General for External Policies Union since June 2018. This DG organises the work of Parliament’s committees and interparliamentary delegations working on external policies, as well as its work on democracy support. He joined the European Institutions in 1991 and has been working in the field of external action in the EP since 2004. He first headed the Election Observation Unit, and in December 2015 became the Director for Democracy Support. He notably worked on the development of Parliament’s “Comprehensive Democracy Support Approach” encompassing activities such as election observations and their follow up, capacity building activities for parliaments, human rights actions and mediation.
