Member of the House of Councillors, Senate of Japan
Kuniko Inoguchi is Member of the House of Councillors (Senate) of Japan for the Liberal Democratic Party since 2010. She is a former Minister of State for Gender Equality and Social Affairs (2005-2006) and former Member of the House of Representatives (2005-2009). Prior to her political appointments, she served inter alia as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva (2002-2004) and as the President of this Conference (2003). She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Yale University and has been a Fulbright Visiting Fellow at Harvard University’s Center for International Affairs. She is Professor Emeritus of the Sophia University.
