Dorit Nitzan

Dorit Nitzan, Regional Emergency Director, World Health Organization (WHO)
Dr Dorit Nitzan is Regional Emergency Director at the World Health Organization’s Regional Office for Europe. She joined the WHO Division of Communicable Diseases and Health Emergencies as Coordinator, Health and Emergency operations in 2016. She leads the Emergency operations within the WHO Health Emergencies Programme, covering prevention, preparedness, response and recovery. She first joined the WHO in 2005 as a manager of Public Health Services in South-Eastern Europe and later as Head of Offices and Representative in Serbia and Ukraine. Previously, she was responsible for the Food and Nutrition Administration in the Israeli Ministry of Health. She holds a BSc in Nutrition from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, a Medical Degree from Tel Aviv University and a Master in Public Health and Epidemiology from Columbia University.
