Richard Katz is Professor of Political Science at the John Hopkins University, focusing primarily on parties and elections in Europe, North America, and the British Commonwealth. His books include A Theory of Parties and Electoral Systems, Democracy and Elections, Political Institutions in United States, and (with Peter Mair) Democracy and the Cartelization of Political Parties. He has taught at the City University of New York, the State University of New York at Buffalo, the Central European University, and the Institut d’Etudes Politique de Lille.
