Stefano Cappiello is qualified as associate professor of business law and the Director General, Directorate “Legal Affairs – Banking and Financial System” at the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance since January 2019. Previous positions include: Deputy Director of the Florence School of Banking and Finance at the EUI (2018), Head of Unit at the Single Resolution Board (2015-2018) and at the European Banking Authority (2011-2014), Senior adviser at the Italian Finance Ministry (2008-2011), and senior officer at the Bank of Italy (1999-2008). He holds an LLM from the University of Chicago and a PhD from the University of Viterbo. He published widely on corporate, banking and financial law.
