Xue-jie Yu, MD, Ph.D, is a National Distinguished Expert of China, professor and dean of Wuhan University School of Health Sciences and a member of the Key Laboratory of Virology of Wuhan University. He recently was dean of the School of Public Health, Shadong University and director of the Rickettsia Laboratory in China. He has also taught at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Glaveston. An expert of emerging infectious diseases, he discovered and isolated a novel Bunyavirus, a tick-born virus which has a 20% – 30% case fatality in East Asia. He has published over 130 peer-reviewed articles in publications such as the New England Journal of Medicine. Dr. Yu holds a Ph.D in cellular microbiology from the Aix-Marseille University, France.
